Advanced Environmental Monitoring Training for Pharmacy Professionals

Pending CCCEP accreditation for 5.25 hours of Continuing Education

Environmental monitoring is one of the most critical — and often misunderstood — components of sterile compounding. This focused, high-impact training is designed to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application, giving your team the confidence to perform, interpret, and act on viable sampling results in alignment with current standards and best practices.

Developed and delivered by industry experts, this program goes beyond the “what” and dives into the “why behind the requirements,” empowering participants to make informed, defensible decisions in their practice.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will gain practical, actionable knowledge on:

  • The fundamentals of environmental monitoring programs

  • Proper techniques for collecting viable air and surface samples

  • Best practices for personnel sampling, including gloved fingertip testing and media fill considerations

  • Understanding incubation parameters and equipment

  • How to accurately read and interpret microbiological growth

  • Applying action levels and responding to excursions

  • Translating results into meaningful quality and safety improvements

Hands-On Learning Experience

This training includes a guided lab component, where participants will:

  • Practice reading media samples

  • Interpret real-world results

  • Build confidence in identifying contamination vs. acceptable findings

This practical session reinforces learning and ensures participants leave with skills they can immediately apply.

  • Media Fill & Gloved Fingertip Sampling

  • Incubation & Microbiology Principles

  • Reading and Interpreting Results

  • Hands-On Lab: Media Sample Review

  • Understanding and Responding to Action Levels

Followed by a post-test.

  • Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists

  • Sterile Compounding Supervisors

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance Professionals

  • Anyone responsible for USP <797>, NAPRA, or cleanroom compliance

Certification & Ongoing Competency

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion valid for three (3) years.

To support ongoing competency and align with industry expectations, participants are required to complete an annual competency assessment via an online post-test.

The first annual post-test is included with the initial training.


Subsequent yearly post-tests are available for $59 CAD per person, per year to maintain active certification status. If your facility has multiple participants please reach out to info@criticalcompoundingresources.com for a multi-person quote.
